Cars in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.

Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Police then found multiple other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the substance was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

City officials said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.

A high-ranking official commented the attack left him speechless and needed to be solved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a assailant targeting residents of migrant background in February 2020.
